Tips on Finding Support for Your Writing
Books on writing can inspire and motivate you; see the list above for some recommendations. If your book budget is limited, check your local library.
Take a writing class. One often overlooked option: your local community education program. In the Twin Cities, community ed classes are typically held on weekday evenings in local high schools.
Join a writers’ group. One of the easiest ways to join a group is to take a writing class and form one with other students. Otherwise, look for flyers at libraries, coffee shops, gyms, and community centers. You can also try online (Facebook, Goodreads, etc.). If you don’t find a writers’ group that fits, start one yourself. If you’re in the Twin Cities, check out the Loft’s free Community Postings for writers’ groups that are looking for new members.
